Revved up after 2022 MITA Annual Conference

The 2022 MITA Annual Conference was an amazing experience for our Hennessey Engineers team. We are new to MITA (Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association) and are energized by the leadership and growth potential in this industry. This was our first conference and we were not disappointed. Our team  – Construction Manager Charles Smith, Project Engineer Troy Nuccio, PE, Staff Engineer Curtis Robb, and Marketing Director Debby Brauer, CPSM – came to the conference with open eyes and ears and walked away with great information and new friends. Held at Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant, MI, the two-day event hosted Michigan firms connected to the infrastructure and transportation industry. The conference was put on hold due to the pandemic last year, so this was the first time in two years that MITA colleagues were able to gather for this outstanding event.

Keynote speaker, Seth Mattison, kicked off the event with a timely discussion on the “Future of Talent”. Our industry has been hit hard with a shortage of qualified staff. Seth offered key strategies to improving staff recruitment and retention.

Notable session topics included: “Understanding the MDOT Prequalification Process”, “Cybersecurity”, “Safety Makes Cents”, and more.  The exhibit hall displays offered opportunities to meet and interact with vendors. There was no shortage of occasions to meet colleagues in the transportation industry. Most memorable was the ALTA Afterglow! Great times. Great music. Great friends.

All in all, the 2022 MITA Annual Conference was a well-spent two days of learning, networking, and fun. We will be back in 2023.
