ELP teaches business side of industry

Congratulations to Nick Yuvan P.E. for completing the ACEC/Michigan Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) today. The program is taught by industry experts and helps propel individuals seeking specific skills and competencies that will support their career in professional services. ELP topics included: government affairs, negotiation skills, risk management, strategic planning, leadership, business developments, and the economics of private practice.

“This experience was eye opening,” said Nick. “At school you learn the technical aspects of civil engineering. This program gave me a broader perspective and I saw the business side of the industry – business development, management, leadership.”

This year, we had two individuals representing Hennessey Engineers. In addition to Nick, Elizabeth Harding, P.E. joined colleagues Chris Cook, President Emeritus at Abonmarche, and Scott Shogan, Senior Vice President at HNTB to conclude the program with a Senior Leaders Roundtable discussion entitled, “From Management to Leadership – Secrets of Success”.  ELP participants asked questions about each panelists career path and how they reached success in their chosen area.
